Long Range Baby Monitor

If you have a big house or if you want to be able to work in your backyard while baby is napping inside you will defintely want to pick up a long range baby monitor.

While most infant monitors have a range of only a few hundred feet, a long range baby monitor will work up to 1000 feet or more.

A few hundred feet may seem like more than enough but you never know. If you're a parent who wants to be active during your baby's nap time you'll need a monitor with a more powerful signal and excellent clarity so it's as clear in the backyard as it is in the kitchen. After all, if its a nice day you may want to sit on your porch or work in your garden. With a long range monitor you can be anywhere in your house or yard and still stay in touch with your little one.

When comparing different models you'll want to read the specs to make sure the range is more than you need. If you have a big yard and will be 900 feet from your baby's room, then a monitor with a range of only 800 feet won't do you much good.

Another feature to look for is a belt clip. It may not seem important at first but trust me when I tell you a comfortable belt clip will come in very handy. You won't be able to get much done at all if you have to carry the monitor with you every step of the way. But if you have a belt clip you'll have both hands free for other activities.

And since you'll be moving all over the place you'll want to be sure the receiver alerts you if you wander out of range of the transmitter. Without some kind of alert you could be out of range and not even know it. And if your baby wakes up and starts screaming you won't even hear her.

Most models give off a series of beeps if you wander too far but some newer ones vibrate as well (it also vibrates if baby starts to cry). This is a great feature to have because you'll be able to feel the vibration even its too noisy to hear. I know one of my neighbors who actually mows his lawn while his son sleeps upstairs. His monitor has the vibrating feature in case he can't hear over the noisy lawn mower.

To summarize, a long range baby monitor will allow you to travel up to 1000 feet in and around your house while giving you peace of mind that your baby is safe while you do chores around the house or just sit in your back yard sipping lemonade.
